Knowledge base / Re: Fade-in / fade-out curve type to use in live drum tracks

Duckbar can store your favorite fade-in / fade-out curve settings permanently for SONAR.

By default, SONAR uses last opened project's fade settings for new projects. This is always not what you want because a) fade settings are not shown easily and b) old project may have unwanted settings and it's just extra waste of time to revert settings each time.

How it works? Duckbar writes your favorite settings to SONAR registry after SONAR has been shut down.

My current favorite is slow out - fast in. It makes less digital glitches than the default linear out - linear in and I can use relatively short fade times, even in ambience and overhead tracks where crash cymbals are loud.

SONAR / Re: What I would do if I had $ and will to buy Cakewalk?

More realistically I could see someone buying it and hiring someone like Noel, and maybe never even using the code anywhere.

It's sad almost all super developers have already left the building at Cakewalk. What will Noel do if SONAR is really discontinued. He can get work from any software company and if he leaves Cakewalk, there may not be knowledge left to handle the huge SONAR codebase. Of course I can be wrong; it may be perfectly documented so that any professional C++ coder can continue the work but it will not happen without extensive study of the project files.

More likely to be sold to someone who uses parts and pieces. Rapture Pro/Z3ta2+, the adaptive limiter, most of the plugins, maybe MFX to Steinberg (longshot), bits of logic.

Sadly, though I wish for a sale and rebirth, I believe Gibson has decided a write off is more valuable for them.

I'm wishing and hoping this is not the case and a sale does happen!

New owner could also be a new company created by Gibsor to hold Cakewalk's assets.
It gets complicated, though: Gibson owning a shell company owning Cakewalk.

Cakewalk blog was shut down because they did not continue to pay the bills. The same may still occur for the forums, too, and who knows if 'transition' means transferring Cakewalk to a new owner who will keep things running or is it a step to end the company in a legal way.  I have continued to use SONAR just as before, excluding sending problem reports, and wait for any news to be announced.

In addition to this place, two new forums were created quickly after the Cakewalk announcement. There are Facebook groups, too. No place will collect the Cakewalk user base as the official forums have done and the fragmentation is inevitable.
