I think everyone was expecting the Cakewalk forums to be shut down in short order (as usually happens when a company goes belly-up). But in this case that didn't happen, for reasons that none of us really know (especially given the press releases with terms such as 'transition' etc. Are they out of business, being sold, ?????). For whatever reason the forums over there have stayed up and running, and folks are continuing to visit them, comment and speculate. When (If) they shut down, there is little doubt things will pick up here as folks search out new venues for conversation and advice.

Cakewalk blog was shut down because they did not continue to pay the bills. The same may still occur for the forums, too, and who knows if 'transition' means transferring Cakewalk to a new owner who will keep things running or is it a step to end the company in a legal way.  I have continued to use SONAR just as before, excluding sending problem reports, and wait for any news to be announced.

In addition to this place, two new forums were created quickly after the Cakewalk announcement. There are Facebook groups, too. No place will collect the Cakewalk user base as the official forums have done and the fragmentation is inevitable.
